CAPCON Library Network Spring CE Schedule Suzanne Picken 05 Feb 1997 15:09 UTC

CAPCON Library Network is pleased to announce the following institute on
 outsourcing.

MANAGING MORE WITH LESS: OUTSOURCING and OTHER OPTIONS

. . . an Institute sponsored by the CAPCON Library Network, May 30, 1996

Outsourcing, contracting, temporaries ... there is pressure throughout
organizations today to adopt these and other non-permanent-staffing
approaches to getting work done for fewer dollars, and with fewer
long-term commitments. This trend is already in high gear in some
libraries, and is being seriously considered in many others. This
one-day Institute will explore the application and implications of
outsourcing and related strategies in libraries, and the management,
financial, and human resource issues involved. The topics on which
there will be presentations by experts will include:

 * Outsourcing a Library's Cataloging Operations: Full and Partial
   Approaches

 * Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Under Contract

 * Outsourcing and Using Temporaries at the Non-Professional Level

 * Contracting with the Contractors: Establishing Clear Mutual
   Understandings

 * Managing Outsourcers and Contractors

 * Preparing for the Impact on Staffing: Reassigning, Reassuring, Retraining,
   and Outplacement

 Date: May 30 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m.*
*Coffee and Registration will begin at 8:30a.m.

Fee: $165 (CAPCON Full and Affiliate Members: $135**)

Location: Doubletree Hotel, 1750 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD
