Unit/Department: Materials Acquisitions and Control (MAC) Team, Life
Sciences Subject Team

Title: Assistant Librarian and Cataloger

Position Description: This is a half time one-year temporary position
appointment cataloging serials titles for the St. Paul Campus Central
Library and St. Paul Campus Branch Libraries. This material is a backlog of
primarily print format in a variety of languages.

There are approximately 1200 titles to be processed as new titles or title
changes, with difficult or no copy. The original cataloger will work within
the MAC Life Sciences Subject Team and participate in team meetings, team
decision making and other team activities.

Qualifications required: An accredited ALA Master's degree in Library
Science; working knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, MARC format(s); experience with
bibliographic data base searching and cataloging; serials cataloging experience.
Qualifications desired: Some foreign language cataloging background;
background in life sciences.

Type of appointment/Salary: This is a 50% time one-year appointment at the
Assistant Librarian rank, with an minimum salary of $14,000
