Seeking discussion of serials cataloging problems

The ALA ALCTS Committee to Study Serials Cataloging has a broad
charge to identify, discuss, and propose solutions to problems
related to serials cataloging. Most of the problems discussed in
the last few years have been about the cataloging rules, but the
Committee's concern is not limited to the rules. Problems with
automated systems, workflow, staffing, and the bibliographic needs
of users of serials cataloging records are among the other areas
that concern the Committee.
The Committee would like to take advantage of the forum that
SERIALST provides to hear from you about the serials cataloging
problems that you face, and promote discussion of those problems
through this listserv.
So let's hear it. What about your OPAC display drives you crazy?
What's your cataloging backlog like? Got any serials cataloging
staffing problems? What problems do you hear about from catalog
users? Et cetera.
Of course the Committee still wants to hear about problems with the
rules! It would be nice to identify some key concerns before the
the planned conference next fall on the future of the cataloging
rules.
