Catalog Librarian
The University of Nevada, Reno Libraries seek a Catalog Department team
member to catalog materials received by the university and community
college libraries in Northern Nevada.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include original and complex
copy cataloging of print and electronic resources, with emphasis on
serials; establishing local serials cataloging standards and procedures
for print and electronic resources; serving as trainer and resource person
for serials copy cataloger; assisting with quality control and problem
solving in Catalog Department; participating in collection development
program. Reports to the Director of Technical Services.
Qualifications: ALA accredited M.L.S. Two years professional cataloging
experience, with significant experience in cataloging serials. Thorough
knowledge of AACR2r, USMARC formats, LCSH, LC classification system, and
standard authority control procedures. Experience with a bibliographic
utility and local library system, preferably Innovative Interfaces. Strong
analytical and communication skills. Evidence of initiative, flexibility,
attention to productivity, and ability to work creatively in an academic
environment. Knowledge of current trends in cataloging and evidence of
contribution to the library profession.
Salary: 12 month tenure track faculty position at rank of Assistant
Professor; minimum $37,500.
Fringes: TIAA/CREF and other retirement options; 24 working days vacation
per year; generous sick leave. No state income tax.
