number of fiche in a drawer -Reply Fiona A. McPherson 19 Nov 1996 21:38 UTC

I was the lucky one who was given the opportunity to inventory our fiche
cabinet this past summer, since the whole concept of doing a library
inventory was my idea, and I couldn't bribe anyone into doing the fiche
cabinet.

As you may know, not all fiche are created equal. Some are thin. Some are
thick. But, my highly scientific solution was to measure one inch of each
fiche of the same "brand", count the number of fiche in that one inch, and
then multiply by inches of that brand in the drawer. Allowing for the usual
error, I preferred this to counting them individually throughout the whole
cabinet.

Have fun!
