COORDINATOR FOR CATALOGING SERVICES AND SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
AURARIA LIBRARY
UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT DENVER
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator for Cataloging Services and Special
Collections is responsible for the development, management, and evaluation
of the Library's bibliographic data base, including monographic, media,
electronic database, and serials cataloging, and bibliographic control and
maintenance. Leads and evaluates department faculty and some
paraprofessional staff. Participates in the management of the Library
Services Division with other coordinators and the Associate Director.
Participates in the overall planning and management of the Library with
the Dean and the Library's management team. Manages the Colorado State
Library grant for cataloging of state documents. Contributes through
professional service and scholarly activities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: ALA-accredited MLS and at least two years of
successful management experience; knowledge of MARC formats, national
cataloging standards, and issues and trends in technical services and
automation; experience with a national bibliographic utility, preferably
OCLC. Two years experience with a local online library cataloging module.
Experience with system migration desirable. The successful candidate must
also have effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to
manage change; and the ability to work well in a team environment.
BACKGROUND: The Auraria Library, located in downtown Denver, supports the
diverse programs offered by the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan
State College of Denver, and the University of Colorado at Denver. The 25
library faculty and 60 staff provide and maintain collections and services
for the approximately 23,000 FTE students and 1,300 FTE faculty on the
campus. The library participates in the Colorado Alliance of Research
Libraries and is in the process of selecting a new integrated library
system.
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS: $37,300 - $48,675 for a 12-month faculty
appointment. Tuition benefits, sick leave, 22 vacation days, TIAA-CREF.
The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on November 4 and
