  I want to thank everyone for their advice on how to close the
  kardex, and automate completely.  Your instructions were invaluable.  I
  do have one other question, however.  This, I'm afraid, may be rather
  elementary.  I have examined our automation software thoroughly, and now
  know where to transcribe holdings information, as well as staff notes to
  each serial record.  The question I have is what format is best for
  describing holdings information.  I have heard of NISO standards but do
  not know the particulars.  Do you write--Volume 1, number 3:
  January-February 1994-.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Please excuse
  the basic nature of this inquiry but once this is established, we are
  closer to completing our project.  I also want to use a standardized
  format.  Thank you in advance.
