Tracking Internet-access serials
W Ted Rogers 24 Sep 1996 18:44 UTC
Here at Old Dominion University Library, we have canceled several CD-ROM
databases and replaced them with Internet access to the same databases.
We pay for access and number of simultaneous users. The databases are
mounted by SilverPlatter and maintained by SilverPlatter. My questions:
Does anyone else with subscriptions like this track the latest issue
mounted? If so, how do you go about it? Is this extra effort worth
staff time? What is the justification for tracking the latest issue?
If you do not track the latest issue, how do you justify this to the
powers that be at your institution? How do you insure you are getting
what you are paying for?
Please respond to me directly. I will summarize for the list if there
is interest. Thank you in advance.
