Illustrated London News, recap Steve Murden 22 Aug 1996 21:40 UTC

I recently posted a query about London Illustrated News. After receiving
several responses that validated what I already assumed, I think I am
safe in posting this synopsis to the list.

The last bi-monthly issue of London Illustrated News was
v.281:no.7117 (1993:Winter). Since then, there have probably
been 5 special issues. They are:
Red Berets '44 (special for 1994)
     Christmas 1994
     Victory '45 (special for 1995)
     Christmas 1995
     Summer 1996

A number of libraries treated the Red Berets '44 as a monograph,
and not as one of the special issues of LIN. Without contacting
the publishers directly, I am not absoutely certain that it
really _is_ one of the 1994 special issues. Since no other
responding libraries received anything else that could have been
considered a 1994 special issue, and since the publisher clearly
states that there will be _at least_ two special issues a year,
it seems logical.

I hope this will help some other libraries who may not have yet
figured out what was happening with this title.
