Anatomy of an invoice Gloria Ostrander 20 Aug 1996 03:23 UTC

An analysis of our current renewal invoice from a (the) major microfom vendor
revealed price increases of more than 11% in 34 % of the titles:

1995 renewal invoice: for 1060 titles, $40,916 (average cost $38.60)
1996 renewal invoice: for 1054 titles, $54,673 (average cost $51.87)

Number of titles with price decrease: 4, for a total savings of $46.60
Number of titles where prices remained constant: 1
Number of titles where price increase was 1 - 10%: 690
Number of titles where price increase was 11% or more: 359
(Figures do not include shipping charges).

We had only projected an overall increase in serials of 10%, so we are
going to have to switch many of these titles from film to binding. I'd
be interested in hearing if other libraries have experienced similar
price jumps for a large portion of their micro. collection.
