I need help with this one. The capital Ls represent British
pounds.
The Illustrated London News was issued 6 times/year through 1993.
It was also sequentially numbered (the last issue of v.281 was
no.7117).
Beginning in 1994, the frequency changed, but that fact is not
reflected on OCLC at all. The "fine print" says "Subscribers will
receive quarterly issues of the Orient Express Magazine and at
least two special issues of The Illustrated London News each year."
I found that note in the Christmas 1994 issue (cover price L2.50),
which certainly appears to be one of those special issues.
In 1995, we also have two special issues, bearing the same note.
One is called Victory 45 (L3.95) and the other is the Christmas
Issue (L2.50).
We also have another item, copyright 1994, that is called Red
Berets '44 (L3.95). It bears the logo of the ILN above that title.
Inside, it says that it was "produced for the Airborne Forces and
the Parachute Regiment by the Illustrated London News." A
significant number of libraries have cataloged it as a monograph in
OCLC, with no link to the journal at all.
Is anyone treating this Red Berets '44 as one of the special 1994
issues? Was there another special 1994 issue that we did not
receive? Does anyone have information about the exact timing of
the frequency change? As far as the Orient Express Magazine, we
have never received any of them, although it looks like we should
have been getting for 2 years.
Any additional information that anyone can provide will be
greatfully appreciated. Thanks.
