INTERLIBRARY LOAN AND DOCUMENT DELIVERY LIBRARIAN
The University of Kansas Libraries are seeking a dynamic
librarian to manage interlibrary loan operations and to
plan, design, and implement enhanced document delivery
services. This is a tenure-track position with a salary
range of $27,000-$34,000, dependent upon qualifications.

The Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Librarian
reports to the Head of Retrieval Services, a department
which includes interlibrary loan and book and serial
acquisitions. Develops strategies with the other members
of the Retrieval Services leadership group, to obtain the
materials needed by users and to support the Library's
decisions regarding access and ownership. Manages 5 FTE
staff and 3.5 FTE student assistants.
Administers all interlibrary borrowing and lending
operations, including document delivery to the Regents
Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Provides leadership in establishing goals, objectives,
policies, priorities and performance standards related to
interlibrary loan and document delivery.
Actively explores, evaluates, plans, and implements new
services and technologies, including user-initiated
remote ILL requests and document delivery.
Analyzes and provides reports on the effectiveness of all
aspects of interlibrary loan and document delivery
operations.
Provides statistics, financial information, and other
data needed for collection management and for planning
user access to information resources. Actively
communicates with bibliographers and other appropriate
Library staff concerning related aspects of library
resource sharing.
Monitors compliance with copyright and interlibrary loan
standards.
Establishes and coordinates interlibrary loan agreements
with other libraries and consortia, representing the
Libraries in state, regional, and national arenas.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from an
ALA-accredited program. Relevant experience in an
academic/research library. Knowledge of issues relating
to resource sharing in the academic library environment.
Commitment to responsive and innovative user service.
Familiarity with interlibrary loan and document delivery
processes. Strong planning, organizational, and
analytical skills. Ability to build teams and lead staff
successfully through major change. Ability to work
effectively with diverse colleagues and clients.
Excellent communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant professional
experience in an academic/research library. Successful
supervisory experience. Ability to evaluate alternative
modes of information access anddelivery and introduce new
processes and technologies in the workplace.
