Subject: Erroneous ISSN on Environmental geology

Just wanted to advise anyone who subscribed to Environmental geology that
the latest issue we received (v.27:no.4 (1996:June) has an incorrect ISSN
on it (0943-0105). I sent an e-mail to issn@loc.gov because the OCLC
record already had a new ISSN assigned in subfield a (1073-9106) in
addition to the earlier ISSN in subfield y (0177-5146) and I wanted to
clarify what ISDS was doing since our staff retrieves records for check-in
by ISSN if available. Someone very promptly replied to me that the ISSN on
the June issue seems to have been erroneously assigned, but that LC had
not yet received the issue so they could not verify the information and
correct it right now.

Hopefully this info will prevent other subscribers from wondering what to
do with the ISSN.
