The Fordham University Libraries (Bronx, New York) has a vacancy for
Serials Cataloger.
Under the direction of the Head of the Serials Department, performs
original and copy cataloging for all types of serial publications in a
variety of formats, languages and subjects, using MARC format, AACR2,
Library of Congress classification and subject headings. Handles all
the procedures necessitated by bibliographical changes of serial
publications. Adds and updates serial holdings statements (LDR) in the
OCLC Union Serials List. Oversees updating, monitoring and printing of
the local Serials List. Carries out special projects related to serials
management as it becomes necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in library science, additional master's
degree is preferred, but not required. Cataloging experience (preferably
of serials), familiarity with a bibliographical utility (preferably OCLC),
familiarity with automated library systems (preferably DRA serials modul).
Ability to accept technological changes and work successfully in a rapidly
developing and complex computerized environment. Knowledge of foreign
languages is desirable.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
