Subject: Wiring the Dory
The Serials Interest Group of the Canadian Library
Association is sponsoring a session at the upcoming
CLA conference in Halifax. The session is called
WIRING THE DORY
and will take place on Friday, June 7, 1996, from 2 to 5 p.m.
(note the change in day and time from what is printed
in the program). The general topic is providing
access to and preserving online electronic serials.
Our two speakers and their specific topics are:
*Nancy Brodie, a librarian at the National Library of Canada,
and a member of the library's Electronic Publications Pilot
Project
TOPIC: "Oars in the Water" ..... Based on the experience of
the Project, Nancy will discuss why it is worthwhile to acquire
and store e-serials on a library site and will address the
challenges of providing long-term access to electronic
collections.

*Rob Cameron, associate professor at Simon Fraser
University's School of Computing Science, and head
of the university's Internet Electronic Library Project
TOPIC: "Not Just E-Serials: Providing and Maintaining
Access to Serials and Serials Information Through
the World-Wide Web" ..... Rob will discuss creating
a web-based resource for integrated access to print
and electronic materials, as well as integrated access
to all reasonable sources of serials information on
the Web.
