Ingrid,
Here at MSU we use shelves that were formerly shelving for oversize
books. They have worked out so well, that we have decided to keep
them! The shelving has 15 inches of depth, which has proven valuable
in helping to preserve issues. Each title has a shelf label
stating title and retention pattern. When a shelf gets full, we
transfer older issues to newspaper boxes (Highsmith) which also state
the title and retention pattern. Our student
assistants weed out issues weekly according to our retention.
