AAP AND ALA TO SPONSOR JOINT PRE-CONFERENCE ON SGML
AT ALA IN NEW YORK CITY
You may know that SGML stands for Standardized General Mark-up
Language, but do you know how you can benefit from it? If not,
plan to attend an ALA pre-conference titled; "SGML, I KNOW I'VE
HEARD OF IT...An All Day Program Discussing Its Use and Future
Implications in Libraries and Publishing"

The Association of Library Collections and Technical
Service/Association of American Publishers (ALCTS/AAP) Joint
Committee have planned this pre-conference for publishers and
librarians who need a general knowledge and for those seeking
more advanced skills. Speakers will discuss what SGML is, its
practical applications in publishing and libraries and other
versions such as HTLM and TEI.

There will also be an afternoon session that will feature a
hands-on tutorial, in a computer lab, that will show what can be
done with SGML.

The program is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 1996, 8:30 am-5:00
pm at Baruch College, 151 East 25th Street, NYC. Fees:
$145-ALCTS/AAP members; $195-ALA members; $245-nonmembers.
