(please address any and all questions, etc. to me:

Dear SERIALST members,
I have a question regarding OCLC, specifically about cataloging and
the union list. (I hope this is the right forum for this question.)
I am in the process of updating our union list and want to add
holdings to Zoological Record - Mollusca (section 9). Doing an ISSN
search in OCLC brings up OCLC #6344527. This record is for
Zoological Record. There is no mention of Mollusca or any of the
other 21 sections that come in that "series". Cataloging question:
is this record lacking information? Should the record not indicate
that this title is comprised of 22 different sections? Or, should
there not be a bibliographic record for each specific section? I
questioned whether this was the correct bibliographic record to add
our holdings to as there is no mention of the actual journal we
receive. But, I assume that since the ISSNs match that this must be
the correct record?
(I did title searches using Zoological Record and Mollusca and also
keyword searches using those words and could not find any other
records, DLC or not, that looked right, complete, etc.)
Union list question: If #6344527 *is* the correct record to use,
would you indicate in your LDR, in a local note, that section 9,
Mollusca, is the only section received by your library? I looked in a
few union list groups to see how other institutions indicated their
holdings, and no one shows that they receive only specific sections of
Zoological Record. It would be assumed from these holding records
that they receive all sections (which I find hard to believe).
Your responses to these questions will be greatly appreciated!!!
