The Lamar Soutter Library is currently seeking qualified applicants for the
position of Acquisitions/Collection Control Librarian. Under the general
direction of the Associate Director for Access Services, this person will
direct and manage all library material acquisitions and will monitor receipt,
bibliographic maintenance, and processing of all library materials. The
successful candidate will manage approval plans for monographs, manage the
acquisitions budget, and communicate and negotiate with publishers and
vendors, as well as manage the libraryAs participation in the federal
depository library program.
This person is responsible for all acquisitions and collection control
functions, including cataloging, processing, binding, the union list of
serials, and government documents. They will provide leadership in planning,
implementing and evaluating new and existing departmental programs including
cataloging outsourcing, approval plans for monographs, and the addition of
acquisitions and serials subsystems to the library's ILS.
The Acquisitions/Collection Control Librarian is responsible for planning,
setting goals and priorities, and designing annd monitoring the workflow of
the department which includes 5 FTE's.
Qualifications : An MLS from an ALA accredited program and 5-6 years of
progressively responsible experience in an automated academic or research
library (minimum of three years experience with technical services operations
or equivalent). Familiarity with OCLC, vendor online ordering and claiming
and integrated library systems. Experience or familiarity with the federal
depository library program. Demonstrated experience in managing medium to
large sized collectionsA budgets. Membership in the AHIP is desired.
Salary : Commensurate with experience. The minimum range is $32,000-$44,000.
