Our serials are tattle-taped before they go out to the Reserve shelf.
However, they still disappear through mis-shelving and inaccurate
check-out procedures to both faculty and students. I think there
will always be seepage.

Regarding theft of periodicals, we have begun to put a security
strip in current periodicals which are "in demand" so that they
cannot walk out undetected, just as we strip our books.  An
honest patron will allow his books to be seen & checked at the
circ. desk; a thief will be caught by our ADT security system.
