I agree with Mary Lippold about time spent on unsolicited serials HOWEVER
if we didn't spend some time tracking them down we would never discover
that we are getting something we don't want and are paying for it. Be it
a cleverly worded invoice, a replacement title sent for a cancelled
title, or the hundreds of other reasons we get titles we never ordered,
time spent investigating the source and the cost can save money later.
For example, we keep a list of titles to toss. But when a title arrives
we don't recognize we don't automatically put it on there, not until
we've made certain we are not paying for it and contacted the publisher
and asked them to knock it off.
