Subject: Claims correction

Heather Steele has pointed out that my reply to an earlier message on
claims which get no reply can be very misleading:

I said that at the Claremont NASIG conference there was a meeting chaired
by John Merriman and Dan Tonkery where various publishers and vendors reps
said that they tended to throw away first claims if they were computer-
produced as many of us tend to claim far too early: NEITHER JOHN MERRIMAN
NOR DAN TONKERY SAID THAT THEIR COMPANIES DID THAT. To my knowledge (and
although I'm not in serials acquisitions I certainly had many years listening
to the complaints of our acquisitions para who did the claiming) Blackwells
has always been held in the highest esteem by libraries.

Sorry if anyone else misread my message.
