POSITION:     Serials Team Coordinator and Cataloger
AVAILABLE:    Until Filled

          RESPONSIBILITIES We seek an experienced professional to
          provide bibliographic access and management for serial
          resources and to function as a team leader and coordinator
          in the area of serials access and control.  The librarian
          will assume responsibility for cataloging and treatment of
          serials in all formats, including electronic formats; train
          and oversee staff involved in serials cataloging and
          serials record maintenance; Identifies and resolves complex
          serial issues related to bibliographic access, shelf
          location, and binding; and provide significant input on
          policies and procedures related to serials control and
          management. Serves as resource person on serials control and
          access issues, coordinates additional serials related
          activities with library departments as appropriate, and
          participates in library-wide teams.  Some public service
          desk and collection development work may be required.

          QUALIFICATIONS This positions requires an ALA-accredited
          M.L.S.; minimum of 2 years serial cataloging/management
          experience in a research or medical library. A thorough
          knowledge of cataloging rules, tools, standards,
          conventions, and serials management system is essential.
          Require strong communications, interpersonal, and team
          leadership skills, along with knowledge of issues in the
          electronic distribution and management of serials.
          Desirable qualifications include experience in indexing
          issues as applied to medical and electronic resources;
          evidence of reliability, stamina, creativity and initiative;
          and ability to work in changing organizational environment.

          SALARY AND RANK

          Salary range: $32,000 to $51,300 for twelve months.
