Thank you to all of you who have answered my request for info about
serials responsibilities; I'm in the process of summarizing it both for
my needs here and for the list, since so many of you have asked for it.
I do have a couple more questions; they've come up because of the replies
you folks have been sending:
a) If your library is very lucky and has someone with serials cataloging
expertise, what does that serials cataloger do? (If that person is not
cataloging serials, I need to know that, too)
b) If much of your cataloging is done by Library Assistants, are they
under the supervision (either directly or indirectly of the serials
cataloger?
c) If you have a serials cataloger, who is the ultimate authority on what
goes in the serials records, who is responsible for the ultimate
integrity of the periodical bibliographic records in your library?
My thanks again; yet again, weird things are happening in this corner of
california (we're supposed to be different, but NOT weird!)
