ALA Announcement - ALCTS Serials Section Committee to Study Serials Cataloging Norma Fair 20 Jun 1995 16:29 UTC

This message is being cross posted to AUTOCAT and SERIALST. Please excuse
the duplication.

The ALCTS/SS/Committee to Study Serials Cataloging will meet twice during
the ALA Conference in Chicago. On Sunday, June 25, the committee is
meeting from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in MCC E272D. We will discuss the
role of the committee and how it can best address issues in serials
cataloging and be of service to serials catalogers.

On Monday, June 26, we are meeting from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Palmer
House, Crystal Room. There will be a report on serials cataloging
activities at the Library of Congress by Regina Reynolds, LC Liaison
to the Committee. Crystal Graham will give a repeat presentation of
her paper, What's Wrong with AACR2: a Serials Perspective (to be
presented first at the Preconference on AACR 2000, on June 22). The
committee will discuss the issues and whether we should take any follow-up
action. Audience participation is encouraged.

At the Monday meeting, there may be time to address specific serials
cataloging questions, so bring any that you have. The Committee welcomes
serials cataloging questions for discussion at our meetings. If you have
questions you would like the committee to address at future meetings,
please send an email to me at: elnfair@mizzou1.missouri.edu.
