                   LOOKING BEYOND SERVICE CHARGE:
             PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SERIALS VENDORS

Librarians engaged in the acquisition of serials have long recognized
the necessity of systematically evaluating the performance of serial
vendors.  The Acquisitions Committee of the Serials Section of ALCTS
hopes to soon publish the _Guide to Performance Evaluation of Serials
Vendors_.  In the context of the _Guide_, a serials librarian and
subscription agent's representative will discuss their perspectives on
evaluation.  Practical cases will be analyzed and audience
participation will be solicited for a discussion of the issues
involved in vendor evaluation.  So come and bring your questions,
share your experiences, and express your opinions!

University of Florida; Gary J. Brown, Blackwells.
