Serials Acquisitions Librarian
Auraria Library
The Auraria Library seeks a Serials acquisitions librarian
with primary responsibility for the management of the serials
budget, check-in, claiming and control of all periodical
subscriptions and continuations. Additional responsibilities
include management of a staff of six library technicians, some
public service in the Periodicals Reading Room, and participation
in other serials projects.
REQUIRED: ALA-accredited MLS; three years experience in serials
work, two of which are in serials acquisitions; at least two years
of managerial/supervisory experience; excellent written, oral and
interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated success in a team
environment.
PREFERRED: Experience with serials cataloging strongly preferred;
experience in periodicals public service desirable.
BACKGROUND: The Auraria Library occupies a unique position as the
central point of information services in support of the programs of
the University of Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State College of
Denver and the Community College of Denver. The combined student
population is approximately 35,000 with 2800 faculty and staff.
This is an urban campus that reflects the multicultural population
of the Denver metro area. The staff of the Auraria Library is
committed to a service-oriented approach. The Library is a member
of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (CARL) sharing the
CARL online information system.
SALARY/BENEFITS: $29,900 minimum for a 12 month faculty
appointment, negotiated depending on education and experience.
Tuition benefits, sick leave, 22 vacation days, a retirement plan.
