Our library is in a unique position in that we are beginning
a reclassification of all of our serials.  We are discussing,
therefore, the age-old question of whether periodicals should
be classified LC (like the rest of our collection) or simply
shelved alphabetically by title.  Actually, we were all set to
classify LC until a student survey of library services brought
up the question of alphabetical shelving.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the pros and cons of classifying
periodicals by either method.  Please respond to me directly
rather than the list at khanrahan.jcvaxa.jcu.edu.  Also, please
respond soon as we would like to make a decision within the next
week or so.  thanks for your input.
