I am posting this message to SERIALST, that a colleague of mine has
already posted to AUTOCAT. Please excuse any duplication--we're just
trying to find some folks that may be able to give us some
experience-based advice. You can reply to either her, or to the list.

Subject: cataloging full-text databases eg. Nexis
We are looking into creating an entry in our online catalog for titles which
are available to our patrons through Lexis/Nexis and other full-text
computer files.
Are other libraries doing this? If so how are you handling the
following:
1. Are you providing full cataloging records for all titles? Selected
titles?
2. Are you adding notes to explain the terms of use for particular
services (such as Lexis/Nexis) ?
3. Are you entering holdings and if so what problems have you had with
keeping up with them?
4. How do you deal with updating titles which may be added or deleted
from the computer file or database?
Thanks in advance.
