I'm sure this has been mentioned on the list but I need an update. How
many libraries bind periodical volumes as soon as the first issue of the
next volume arrives in the library. If not then, when? There has been
some discussion at our institution that the quick binding of material is
making current material unavailable to the patron. Louisiana libraries are
on state binding contract a nd material is sent to Heckman for binding.
It is out of state for at least four weeks. Total time unavailable to
the patron is about 6-7 weeks (preprocessing and checking in from
binder). I would like pro and con comments on this topic. Please
