I am delighted to announce that a set of documents about ANSI/NISO
Z39.56 The Serial Item and Contribution Identifier (both the 1991
and the draft 1995 versions) have recently been mounted on the
Faxon WWW server <http://www.faxon.com>.  These include the following:

1.      A short piece describing the relationship between Faxon and the
ANSI/NISO Z39.56 standard, intended to explain why this material is
on the Faxon WWW server (a Faxon document).

2.      The abstract and foreword from ANSI/NISO Z39.56-1991 (a NISO
document).

3.      All of the official minutes from the current committee to rewrite the
standard (NISO documents).

4.      Any addenda to those minutes, also distributed on the Z39.56 list
server (NISO documents).

5.      Five diagrams showing the SICI in eye-readable form, both in the
1991 and the 1995 versions.  We will soon add keys to these diagrams
(Faxon documents) and we will change the diagrams (and keys) to
reflect any changes to the draft standard.

6.      Instructions for joining the Z39_56 public mail server (a Faxon
document).

Mrs. Pat Harris (Executive Director of NISO) graciously gave Faxon her
permission to pursue this.  NISO and Faxon felt that it would serve the
serials and standards committee to disseminate information about this
standard in as timely and broad a fashion as possible.

Please also note that we have added a new section to the Faxon WWW
server, listing many of the Serials-related meetings in 1995.  This list
contains links to city home pages for virtually all of the cities listed.
