Subject: Claiming by disk (Readmore, for example)

We used to use MicroLinx (Faxon) for claiming and we could transfer claims
electronically. We are now using Remo and claims must be downloaded to disk
and mailed to Readmore. Our serials supervisor believes that we should
FedEx our disc, but I'm not sure we need to spend the extra money. Can
any of you who are mailing your claims in on disc share with me or the list
any special handling you've found to assure effecient and effective claiming?
Also, are any of you finding that past claim periods eg 1 month to 6 weeks
for domestic titles and 2 months for foreign titles, need to be changed
because publishers are less likely to honor claims. We claimed the first
6 issues of Cutis last year at monthly intervals and the publisher still
maintains they cannot honor our claims and that we will need to pay for
the backissues!

I'd be interested in a good discussion of claiming policies, problems, and
procedures on the list.

Thank you
