This has been discussed before, so I won't attempt to reproduce all the
views previously stated, but among them were:
* Many of these CD-ROM serials CHANGE the number of titles contained on
them with each new CD-ROM. This means if you do create analytics, you will
have a lot of maintenance and will have to check every title on every new
piece (i.e. each new issue) you receive.
* One possibility for your paper editions of the same title would be a
note, "also available in CD-ROM" which would not committ you to saying if
indeed your library has the CD-ROM version or not.
* The people I have personally talked to think it is adequate for us to
just let the patrons find out what titles the CD-ROM contains by using the
software themselves. No one is willing to take on an added workload for
something which is the equivalent of an index - and we do not maintain
index notes in our serial records (i.e. the 510s). Who does?

My library has decided to provide access to individual titles on CD-ROMs
to make full use of these rather expensive products. We download
records for the print versions, adding additional fields, such as
a subfield h [computer file], as appropriate. In the event that we already
have the title in print form, we treat the electronic version as a
second copy. The actual "cataloging" is done by a copy cataloger using
a set of macros for the additional fields.
Maintenance of these records (keeping up with title changes, etc.)
is problematic, but our bibliographers are pleased with the additional
access which we provide to these serials.
This topic has come up before on SERIALST; you may wish to check
the SERIALST archives for other messages/additional discussion.
