Idaho State University, a comprehensive university with an
enrollment of over 11,000 students, is seeking applications for the
position of Cataloger at the Eli M. Oboler Library. The recent
commencement of special projects within the Library could allow for
professional growth in this position.
Reporting to the AUL-Technical Services, primary responsibilities
include: cataloging, authority work and MARC coding onto RLIN and VTLS
for all types of library materials, with an emphasis on serials;
supervision of support staff; provide recommendations regarding
cataloging policy and procedures to unit head; and the ability to
adjust to changing conditions.
Required: M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited institution; knowledge of
the use of AACR2, MARC formats, LCSH, LCRI and the LC classification
schedules and authority files; demonstrated interest in cataloging;
experience using primary utility (RLIN or OCLC), experience using a
local system; effective written/oral communication skills.
Preferred: serials cataloging experience; supervisory experience;
familiarity with a foreign language.
Salary: commensurate with experience and qualifications ($28,000
minimum). Twelve-month faculty appointment, 24 days annual leave,
12 days sick leave; TIAA/CREF or VALIC; medical and dental insurance.
