All very well, but the URL for this directory doesn't seem to work.  Being on
two lines doesn't help, the embedded colon is wrong, and in any case the best
I can get is
0- Cannot access directory '/inetdirsstacks/libcat/' .  I hope a better
address can be provided.  --pg

Subject: Correction - Library Cataloging: Internet Resources

In reply to Peter Graham, I found the guide without much difficulty,
though a screen capture of the link information to Vianne Tang's _Library
Cataloging: Internet Resources_ (ver. 2.0) indicates a slight variation on
the URL for getting to this resource (looks like there is a missing "70"
link in the original URL that I had forwarded to SERIALST).  I am
appending the link info. (with the correct URL) below.  For those using a
gopher client, the path is:

gopher to:  una.hh.lib.umich.edu/inetdirsstacks/Library Cataloging...

Since I'm not on the SERIALST, please send related message to me,
as Peter Graham did.  Comments on my guide and access problems
are very welcome since I can correct the problems and provide
different access methods in the next revision.  Please remember
that there are various machines on Internet and each one may use
different way to access Internet.  Access entries cannot be 100%
guarantee for each type of machine and program.  Please try
another method if one way doesn't work.

The URL problem may be due to the types of machines you are using
to browse the documents.  Some systems cannot display symbols in
its ordinary way.  For some systems, ":" will be represented by
"%3a" and "00" may be other characters, default port number may
be required, etc.  Try:
URL:
gopher://una.hh.lib.umich.edu:70/00/inetdirsstacks/libcat%3asha

If the URL still doesn't work for you, try:

Telnet una.hh.lib.umich.edu
  Login: gopher
  Hit [ENTER]  (DON'T input any unique name or SSN)
  Follow the path:
    Contents of the ULibrary Gopher
      Keyword Search (Type "SUBJECT ORIENTED")
        Clearinghouse of Subject-Oriented Internet Resource
        Guides (UMich)
           Guides on the Social Sciences
             Library Cataloging

OR

  Password: your email address
  Type: cd inetdirsstacks
  Type: get libcat:sha
  Type: quit (to exit)

Either way should get you to the document.
