We cancelled our subscription to Chemical Abstracts last year. We are
subsidizing up to $2,000/year of faculty searching Chemical Abstracts on STN
Acacdemic Account (reduced searching after 5:00 p.m.)
So far I have heard of no problems with our ACS accreditation.

We cancelled our CA about 5 years ago. We have heard of no problem with
accreditation. We offer online searches free of charge through CA but have
had very few requests. It seems that faculty are doing it themselves.

At Ryerson, we have just cancelled Chemical abstracts, and will be
offering free online searches to those who need access. The Canadian
Engineering Accreditation Board don't seem to have a problem with that.
We are also ordering the Concise Engineering Index on CD-ROM as a
supplement to the ingineering Departments. We expect this to be of
additional value in terms of accreditation. Our accreditation is going to
be reviewed in a few weeks, so we'll soon find out!
