ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR LIBRARY SYSTEMS AND TECHNICAL SERVICES
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Library is seeking an
experienced administrator to oversee and manage its Technical and Library
Systems Division, comprised of the following units: Acquisitions,
Bibliographic Access and Control (BACS), Serials, Collection Management,
Collection Development, and Circulation. Minimum requirements: This senior
level position requires an MLS from an accredited Library School, five
years supervisory and administrative experience and extensive knowledge
and experience with OCLC, library automation, serials control and
cataloging. Familiarity with the Medical Literature and MESH is mandatory.
Must have excellent training, presentation, and documentation skills. Must
be able to assume a leadership role in a dynamic, highly automated
environment, interact effectively with a wide range of library and systems
staff, and understand and support the library's mission. Preferred:
Experience with project management, a relational database such as ORACLE
or PARADOX and Innovative Interfaces systems preferred.
The library is part of a recently re-organized academic health sciences
center, serving the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, the Division
of Allied Health Professions, a Center for Population Health and several
hospitals and clinics. As the only academic health sciences library in the
state, it is a state- wide resource with an active outreach and extension
program.
Minimum salary: $41,500, excellent benefits, non-probationary faculty
appointment in the School of Medicine.
