We use the ANSI Standard Level 4 for summary and detailed holdings.  The
Standard is difficult to understand for many staff and is difficult to
apply to local holdings; however, I think it is necessary to use such a
standard as we consider moving holdings information either from our
current system to a new system (sometime in the future) or from our local
system to a bibliographic utility, such as OCLC, for union listing or
other reasons.  We have many discussions regarding this standard here, and
I'm happy to discuss more in detail with you if you wish.
