I have read the list description in __On Internet 94__.
In the Newsletter on Serials Pricing 100, item 5, I brought up the
issue of copyright clearance and royalty fees possibly rising at
unanticipated percentage rates and the effect on plans for obtaining
remote access to material instead of owning or leasing it on site.
Some librarians and I have done some investigation of copyright
clearance fee changes from 1989 to 1993 for 300-315 journals. Our
libraries had exceeded fair use photocopy limits, and had paid a fee
directly to CCC or as part of a document delivery price.
We have numbers and statistics, but crucial methodological
decisions may affect them. Are others studying copyright clearance
fee changes of the past, and estimating future changes? What
__Library Literature__ and __Library and Information Science
Abstracts__ should I use to look for other studies?
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Sincerely yours, s/tkl Thomas K. Lindsey <lindsey@library.uta.edu>
