Subject: Subscription extension

        My department is writing a procedure for obtaining periodical issues
not received on the subscription.  One step we are considering is asking our
periodicals dealer to extend the subscription when the issue is not received.
Have any of you done this?  Have you set parameters for when you would ask for
the extension?  For example, do you ask for the extension based on the cost of
the issue or on the number of issues of a title not received?  How much
additional work was this for your staff and what kind of service did your
subscription agent provide?
