                   ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION AVAILABLE

POSITION:           Technical Services Librarian

QUALIFICATIONS:     MLS degree from an ALA accredited library school.
                    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Two
                    or three years cataloging or serials experience
                    desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   Working in cooperation with the Technical Services
                    Director, provides active leadership in a team based
                    program with one other librarian and six
                    technicians.  Primary responsibility for cataloging
                    in monographic and non-book formats using OCLC,
                    AACR2R, LC subjects and classification, and the
                    local VTLS online system.  Coordination of various
                    serial maintenance functions and liaison with
                    Government Publications Dept.  Knowledge of USMARC
                    Holdings desirable.  Train and supervise technicians
                    as necessary.  Develop manuals and document
                    procedures using word processing software.

RANK AND SALARY:    Commensurate with experience; entry level salary is
                    $24,000 for 9 months.  Summer contract possible.
                    Non-tenure track faculty appointment.

ENVIRONMENT:        Northeastern State University is located in the
                    historic town of Tahlequah in scenic Green Country,
                    Oklahoma.  The area, located in the foothills of the
                    Ozark Mountains, is rich in recreational activities
                    and offers cultural opportunities in nearby Tulsa.
                    NSU enrolls approx. 9,000 students in 1
                    professional, 13 graduate degree, and 63
                    undergraduate programs.
