We also tried it for a year. We got very few hits. What surprised me
even more was that we also got very few takers for any duplicate
issues that we listed. This only during the second year that Faxon
Quest existed, however. Things might have improved since then but at
the time we really couldn't justify the time or the money it took.

My experience with FAXON QUEST dates back farther to its predecessor,
SerialsQuest. My library submitted a huge list of issues for exchange with
high hopes, but we neither gained nor gave away many issues. The effort and
expense were just not worth the results we received. It seemed to be a good
idea whose time had not yet arrived.

We have found U.S.B.E. and the ALCTS Duplicates Exchange Union (DEU) to be more
reliable sources of both finding and getting rid of duplicate issues at low or
no cost. You do NOT have to be a member of ALCTS to join the DEU, but you do
have to agree to submit at least one exchange list per year. The DEU is also
experimenting with electronic access to exchange lists, along with boolean
search capability. I can supply more information about this project for anyone
who is interested.
