                      Position Announcement

                 Collection Management Librarian

This position oversees the acquisition of monographs, standing
orders, serials, CD ROMs, federal government documents, and media
materials.  Supervises the Collection Management Assistant (full-
time) and 4 to 6 student assistants assigned to the unit.  Serves
as library liaison to at least four departments and serves on the
library's collection development team.  Works the reference desk
at least ten hours per week, including one evening each week.
The position also includes weekend hours on a rotating basis.
Participates in bibliographic instruction and online searching
programs.

Requirements:  A masters degree in library and information
science from an institution accredited by the American Library
Association is required.  Subject masters preferred but not
required.  At least two years professional experience in an
academic library preferred.

Queens College is a private college with close ties to the
Presbyterian Church.  The college includes traditional liberal
arts undergraduate programs, an evening program for non-
traditional undergraduates, and it grants graduate degrees in
business and education.

Everett Library houses a collection of approximately 116,000
volumes and is in the process of acquiring an automated library
system.  Staff includes four professionals (including the
Director) and four support staff members.  Professional
librarians are members of the College's faculty.
