THE CENTER FOR RESEARCH LIBRARIES SEEKS APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS

1)

POSITION:  Cataloger for Foreign Newspaper Cataloging Project (CJK)

AVAILABLE: Oct. 1, 1994-Sept. 30, 1995

JOB SUMMARY: Catalogs newspapers in both hard copy and microform in
most major languages, especially in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Assists Circulation and Acquisitions Departments with cataloging
questions and difficult searches.

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Library Science, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.  Thorough knowledge of
contemporary cataloging rules and procedures, including use of
appropriate bibliographic tools.  Thorough knowledge of procedures
related to major bibliographic on-line utilities (e.g. OCLC, RLIN).
Knowledge of foreign languages, especially Chinese, Japanese, or
Korean.  Ability to work independently and to organize own work within
departmental priorities.  Prior cataloging or pre-professional
technical services experience highly desirable.  Prior experience with
a cataloging databasa (e.g.  OCLC) mandatory.

SALARY GRADE: Salary grade 10, $23,100-$34,600 annually, appointment
level depending on experience and qualifications.

WORK WEEK: 37.5 hours per week.
