ALA Hotel problem in Miami Mitch Turitz 26 May 1994 14:22 UTC

I just received my confirmation notice from the ALA Travel Desk, and
enclosed with it was a notice which reads as follows:

===============================================================================
                        ATTENTION
                        ---------
DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO THE AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATIONS
ANNUAL CONVENTION IN MIAMI IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOUR HOTEL CHOICES ARE NOT
AVAILABLE. WE HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF RESERVING A ROOM FOR YOU AT AN
ALTERNATE PROPERTY. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT PROPERTY
PLEASE CONTACT THE AMERICAN LIBRARY TRAVEL DESK AT (800) 999-0925.
===============================================================================

I am just passing on this information as it may be of interest to anyone
else attending ALA in Miami. I do not have any more information and
suggest that you contact the travel desk at the above number if you have
any questions.

Previously I was told that the hotel I had originally been assigned to is
currently undergoing "renovation" which would not be completed by the
conference, and so I was offered a choice of some other hotels or a reduced
rate at the hotel under renovation. I have since been told by someone else
that their hotel (yet another one) is also undergoing renovation and will
not be completed by the conference, either.
