        Acquisitions Librarians/Vendors of Library Materials Discussion
Group, ALCTS/ALA Conference in Miami, June 26, 1994, 8:30-10:30a.m., in
the Miami Beach Convention Center, Room D240.  Topic:  What does basic,
bare-bones service from a vendor include?

The topic of the 1994 ALA Conference's Acquisitions Librarians/Vendors
Discussion Group is:  what is acceptable, basic service from vendors?
What other services would librarians want vendors to provide and at what
cost?  The discussion will be led by two vendors, who will talk about the
services their companies provide and the costs of the services?  Another
point of view will be presented by two librarians who will talk about the
services they currently receive from vendors, changes they would like to
see in these services, and the costs they are willing to pay.

The discussion leaders will be:  Rosann Bazirjian, Head, Bibliographic
Services Department, Syracuse University Library; Carol Hawks, Head,
Acquisitions Department, Ohio State University Libraries; Bob Schatz,
Sales Manager, Academic Book Center; and, Keith Schmiedle, President,
Coutts Library Services.  The Discussion Group is Co-Chaired by Tom
Laney, the Book House, and Roger Presley, Georgia State University.

NOTE:  The Acquisitions Administrators Discussion Group will follow this
meeting, 10:30a.m.-12:30p.m., in the same room.
