Initial Rank: Associate Librarian
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master's degree from an ALA accredited library school; 5 years
professional experience in increasingly responsible positions in an automated
technical services environment; commitment to working collegially.
Preferred: 3 years cataloging and 3 years administrative and supervisory
experience, record of involvement in professional associations and/or
evidence of publications/presentations, senior or distinguished membership
in the Academy of Health Information Professionals
Knowledge/skills: Expertise in AACR2, MARC formats, and OCLC; working
knowledge of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and NLM classification
scheme; thorough knowledge of publishers and vendors, sound
fiscal/accounting practices, serials management, and trends in technical
services; demonstrated ability to lead in a rapidly changing environment;
excellent analytical and creative problem- solving, interpersonal, and
oral and written communications skills; familiarity with university,
academic health sciences center, or research library environments
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience, minimum of $35,000.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
We are seeking a librarian to assume a leadership role for our recently
reconfigured Technical Services department. Wide range of admnistrative
and management responsibilities for a staff of 8 FTE, whose
responsibilities include acquisitions/fund accounting, serials managment,
cataloging, database enhancement and maintenance, union listing.
Opportunity to play significant role in development of state health
information network.
The library is part of a growing institution and supports the colleges of
Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, School of Health-Related Professions, and
hospital. As the only academic health sciences library in the state, it is
a statewide resource and a key player in AZHIN, the Arizona Health
Information Network. The library has a collection of almost 200,000
volumes, 3,000 current journal subscriptions, a large media and software
collection, and a staff of 50 FTE (16 professionals). A new library
building was completed in 1992. A new library system will be installed in
late 1994.
