A colleague has passed on to me the query from Crystal Graham:
The direct address has not worked so I am posting the reply to the
list.

The figure I use for my serial shelf space planning is 27
bound volumes per linear metre of shelving at 100% occupancy. This
figure was derived from a very rough sampling of the shelves at two
of our libraries, one science and tech, the other social sciences.
For the Law Library I have used 22.5 volumes.

Have you consulted Metcalfe's tome on space planning? I vaguely
remember that he has some figures to offer.
