                      MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
                   ACRL/NEC SPRING CONFERENCE

                     LIBRARIES IN TRANSITION

                        MARCH 17-18, 1994
                     SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY
                      NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND

     The Conference will begin on Thursday, March 17, with a panel
discussion on library services in transition.  Marshall Keys,
Executive Director of Nelinet, Inc. will moderate the panel.
Lawrence Dowler, Associate Librarian, Harvard College Library,
Carolyn Gray, Associate Directory, Brandeis University Library, and
William Gosling, Assistant Director, University of Michigan
Libraries will be the panel participants.

     After the panel the annual ACRL/NEC business meeting will be
held, followed by tours of the Salve Regina University Library and
a reception at Ochre Court, the beautiful mansion located on the
campus of Salve Regina University.  Dinner will be "on our own".
A number of tables have been reserved at the Black Pearl Resturant
on Bannister's Wharf in Newport for those of us who wish to join
our colleagues, or you may want to try another of the resturants in
the town.

     On Friday, March 18, the Paul Evan Peters, Executive Director,
Coalition for Networked Information will lead the discussion on
technology in transition.  After lunch, Elizabeth Futas, Dean,
Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, University of
Rhode Island and Arthur Curley, Director, Boston Public Library,
and Presidient-Elect of the American Library Association, will
speak on the profession in transition.

     The cost of the Conference is: $50 for ACRL/NEC members

$60 for non-members

$10 for students

     There will be no refunds for registration fees received after
March 10; an additional $5 will be charged for onsite registration.
