Subject: "Barcoding Projects"

I've just done a database search of the archival files for
SERIALST, without success. Could any of you send either
information on or comments on the following?

We're on KeyNOTIS and are beginning the process of
implementing Circulation and Serials. The goal is to barcode our
collection completely prior to Circulation Module
implementation. The discussion at the medical library is how to
barcode the serials collection without unduly taxing the entire
library staff.

Should we (1) barcode only part of the serials collection,
say the last ten years, since volumes prior to that date do not
circulate as frequently? (2) are there libraries out there which
partially barcoded the collection? and have you had problems
with doing the barcoding in this way? (3) In barcoding your
serials, have you used one barcode or two? If you used two
barcodes, where did the second barcode of the pair go?

Thanks for any advice and warnings.
